In the context of Gaza, ethnic cleansing has two meanings.

The first meaning is what we call 'internal ethnic cleansing,' which refers to the systematic and forceful removal from one part to another part in Gaza without the right to return to that part where Palestinians were first removed. This removal takes place either by illegally declaring the latter as a 'combat zone' or without any reason given, but hallmarks the purpose of replacing the population.

The second meaning refers to expulsion to Egypt without having the right to return to Gaza. It is then a clear sign of having the intention to replace the entire population of Gaza with Israeli colonists.

We have noticed that the desire of ethnic cleansing comes from the hardcore within the Israeli colonizing population, who passed it on to those who represent them in the Knesset, where the desire is pushed on the political agenda of the leadership. Netanyahu has his reasons to back the desire, mostly pressured by the two far-right ministers, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezallel Smotrich.
