The Israeli army chief of staff has appointed a team of senior reserve officers to review and draw conclusions from investigations into the Hamas-led attacks on Israel, according to a military statement.

It added: “The team will submit initial conclusions to the Chief of Staff in the coming weeks, and subsequently a proposal for a plan to implement the lessons in an integrative manner.”

Late last month, the Israeli army acknowledged its “complete failure” to prevent the October 7 attacks, admitting that it had for years underestimated the Palestinian group’s capabilities.

The summary of an Israeli army investigation said it “failed in its mission to protect Israeli civilians”.
