On October 7, 2023 Hamas carried out an attack that have surprised the Israelis the most. The attack has been dubbed as a terrorist attack which is not in line with the international status the Gaza Strip is declared by the United Nations, as occupied. The non-politicized definition of an terrorist attack is those that is carried by an attacker who is resided in the territory where the attacker wants to carry out the attack. The attack must also taken place in time of peace. The Israelis are war belligerent since they never signed peace with the Palestinians. This can be concluded by looking at the numerous warnings by the United Nations and to the Israelis, that acts and/or activities against occupied people amounts to war crimes. Another reference is the answer that was given in January 2009 by the then spokesperson for the Israelis, Mark Regev, to the question if the Israelis are at war: "We are at war in all time". Then the reference of an interview by CNN from the same period in which Netanyahu is seen saying "Hamas must be destroyed". The Israelis keep the territorial situation of Gaza as that of occupation for more than 17 years. This means that an attack carried out by anyone who is under occupation, is not an terrorist attack. |
