Welcome to the Gaza documentation project Let us begin with something that everyone knows ..or maybe not everyone as current generations did not grow up in an era when there was no video but celluloid. And even then, when there was video (VHS and Betamax), there was no YouTube, Dailymotion, Vimeo, TikTok or Instagram. The first Internet video hosting site was ShareYourWorld.com, founded in 1997. There are many definitions explaining what history is. However, the most simple way to explain is by using the pictured images. A celluloid film consist of a series of frames. Each frame is part of a scene which in return may be part of series of scenes. They all together form what is called a sequence. So, a movie is build up by series of sequences. If you stretch out the whole film, you see a chronology of series of frames, scenes and sequences. In today's video technology, you don't need to stretch the movie. It's already done while you load it in a video editor. Visualizing history goes just like this, meaning that you can imaginary history like a complete movie unless you cut it in pieces to remove frames, scenes or even a whole sequence that you don't want people to watch.. Like every movie, any event must have a beginning as nothing happens from a vacuum. There is always a main cause or root, which always lays in the very past. And so it is about Gaza.

Gaza was once the land of the Philistines, a people first described by the Greek philosopher and scientist Aristotle. They were an ancient people who lived on the south coast of Canaan during the Iron Age. Before the Gaza "problem" emerged, the enclave was first part of the League Of Nations (predecessor of the UN) mandate of Palestine under British rule (watch video) after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. That's how it all started, not on October 7, 2023. The existence of Hamas is by the Israelis themselves. The group didn't emerge from out of the blue. Terrorism is only when one resort to acts and activities of terror in time of peace. But, the Israelis have never lifted their self-declared war since the colonization of the West Bank. The United Nations has designated Hamas as a political movement while its armed wings are within the frame of the Law Of Belligerent Occupation, which states that occupied people have the right to form armed groups to resist occupation. Members of the Hamas have the full right to resist the Israeli occupation of Gaza and the annexation of the West Bank. If they take and use that right, they must distinguish themselves from the civilian population, or on the basis of articles 43 & 44 of the Additional Protocol I of the Geneva Conventions, at least carry their weapons openly during attacks and deployments. But (pro-)Israeli entities and governments are utterly saying that Hamas is a "foreign terrorist organization" while this claim is distracting the fact, that the Israelis are latterly foreigners as they not only occupy a foreign country. They are even alien to the region as they descend from Europe, and are people from around the world from later times to present. |
Why this website ? On the welcome page we wrote:
Well. that's not the tradition in politics about Gaza, and the whole issue about the question of Palestine. The views but those supporting the Israelis are rotten to the core as they all erase the fact that nothing happens without a past if not THE past. But, the essence of this website is not documenting all these "views" as they are part of a picture that the Israeli occupation forces and their leaders are trying to uphold, that they are "fighting and destroying terrorists, barbarians", in other words: Hamas. Like Hamas, the more than 100 menu items didn't come out of the blue. They could only be determined after watching and reading hundreds of content a whole year long, and to look where in the international law do they reflect. That is why we couldn't launch the website no earlier than November 2024. These items are constantly under review for in case new information is found, that prompts any item to be moved to another location in the menu tree, or to be renamed. We wanted a website that is not like a news website nor something like you can see on social media platforms as both only informs the visitor about what is happening or what has happened. A lot of these information fails to show whether it has really happened on the day of posting. The lack of crucial information found in content, in particular on social media, have forced us only to focus on what is to see in attachments. Actually, the website is not useful for everyone as its structure is based on knowledge about documentation and archiving. In fact, the website may only be useful to people who have that knowledge and whose way of following Gaza is based on this knowledge. The latter is exactly what we're doing but why? We believe that the website could be a useful tool for those who are writing articles, comments and analysis. However, the main reason for building this website is to unravel and dissect the now overblown and war-like claim that Netanyahu is at war with Hamas. Netanyahu is not at war with Hamas. He is exploiting Hamas (October 7th) for judicial self-protection as a trial awaits him, his wife and sons over bribery and corruption. The man goes latterly over everyone's (dead) body to save his own and his family. It's like some sort of the occupation army's Hannibal directive but a politicized personal one. Putting Gaza into (war) politics have already brought anyone to nowhere and have cost 44.211 Palestinians their lives (November 25, 2024). If politics could, then there wouldn't be polarization, antisemitism but against Palestinians, hate speeches and calls for genocide or extermination. There would also be a ceasefire achieved but months ago, and would collusion and complicity no longer continue. The latter refers to countries who are to be accused of contributing to the prolongation of the so-called war, either by their politics and or direct involvement, |
Why we use social media differently
The main reason why we're running this website are the social media platforms where there is no freedom of expression since October 7, 2023, in particular X (formerly Twitter) and Meta platforms. The platform bought by Elon Musk has no transparent moderation policy. He uses a shadow blocking system that one either can recognize at the number of followers when it is inconsistent to the time when a account was opened, or by comparing the number of views of a post with those of another post but on the same X-account. We constantly had the following experience: When a post exposes the side that Elon Musk supports, the visibility of that post reaches either no views or at the highest 4 views while a previous post gains a lot of views just because it did not affect his personal stance. But, at one point we were lucky. We didn't need to worry about hundreds of thousands of followers, as they weren't that high, but about new followers who are constantly accounts with no post, a few followers and a lot that they are following. The profile picture was always a young women if not a girl but often in a challenging position. It is clear that this is by deliberate action. After constantly blocking these "followers", we decided to cease posting on X while not having deleted the account. Elon Musk is now turning the platform into something like Parler which was a right-wing platform before it collapsed in 2021 when Apple and Google removed the mobile app from their app stores, and Amazon Web Services cancelled the hosting of the app. On Facebook we had a experience about posting a so-called 'timeline-in-details' in which news reports about Gaza are arranged by topics based on international law. The "moderators" removed the post and messaged us that it was removed because it was "based on fabrications", and "a attempt to seek more clicks and visitors." Both have shocked us as we didn't expect from Facebook a tactic of oversounding that we know in Israeli supremacism. We posted a rebuke in which we made clear that number of followers do not have our priority. Time gaps between posts proof that. The priority is our job. Posting videos and photos with description, but the way they are categorized on this website, is a threat to the personal views pro-Israeli platform owners have. Keeping such posts from their platforms is no other than suppressive disrespecting the right to choose whom one wishes to stand for even when it is international law. That is why we don't post videos on social media, which are actually already posted but by others. |
