Refaat Alareer was a Palestinian writer, poet, professor, and activist from Gaza. Alareer was born in Gaza City in 1979 during the Israeli occupation of Gaza, which he said had negatively influenced every move and decision he made. He was assassinated on December 6, 2023, at the age of 44. He was the first to report an Israeli killing of their people. Refaat didn't know it was a Hannibal directive.
