There are different types of killing.

In the context of Gaza, the Israelis are known for resorting to massacre, mass murder, or spree killing – the killing of many Palestinians. The overall character we see is what we would describe as a human hunting spree.

However, three types of killing are rarely reported: executions, summary executions, and execution-style killings.

How we view executions in Gaza:

Executions are killings whereby the victims are found blindfolded and handcuffed, brought or pushed to a place or location, then shot and killed.

Summary execution, also known as extrajudicial execution, is refusing to take unarmed Palestinians as prisoners or refusing to distinguish between civilians and military objectives, or simply refusing to spare the life of the victim, shooting and killing on the spot instead.

Execution-style killings mean resembling an execution; with the victim aware, but unable to defend themselves or resist. The best example that resembles an execution with the victim being aware of it is the shootings at the so-called GHF points. However, this example is of such a systematic scale that we have classified it as varying from mass killing to massacre.

Please note that the documents contain data intended to be indicative, as we only record what we come across.
