PARTITIONING GAZA
The construction of the Kissufim separation line was announced in July 2025. It runs from the land border in the east to the Mediterranean coast, where Central Gaza meets Southern Gaza. Like all other illegally build separation lines, the Kissufim is presented as for "humanitarian purposes" and "security."
The term for attempts to seize land without an official declaration is called de facto annexation. It has been taking place for years in the West Bank, and all Israeli tactics in Gaza carry a similar character. However, in Gaza, it is about partitioning the enclave. Using any means with the intention of partitioning the land is forbidden by international law, even when it is in self-defense, which the Israelis call "for security".
