PARTITIONING GAZA

The Mefalsim separation line is located north of Gaza City and runs from the border in the east in Beit Hanoun to the Mediterranean sea. The line cuts the whole north from the rest of Gaza.

The term for attempts to seize land without an official declaration is called de facto annexation. It has been taking place for years in the West Bank, and all Israeli tactics in Gaza carry a similar character. However, in Gaza, it is about partitioning the enclave. Using any means with the intention of partitioning the land is forbidden by international law, even when it is in self-defense, which the Israelis call "for security".
