PARTITIONING GAZA
The Netzarim separation line, located just south of Gaza City, was a road from the land border in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. The Israelis built the separation line on October 30, 2023, and widened in February 2024, with 150 meters on each side, and destroyed every building that was built near the road. It cuts off Gaza City and Northern Gaza from the southern parts of the enclave.
The term for attempts to seize land without an official declaration is called de facto annexation. It has been taking place for years in the West Bank, and all Israeli tactics in Gaza carry a similar character. However, in Gaza, it is about partitioning the enclave. Using any means with the intention of partitioning the land is forbidden by international law, even when it is in self-defense, which the Israelis call "for security".
