20231007 - Netanyahu declares war on Hamas (with important comment)
COMMENT
The Israelis have been a war belligerent since the declaration of war on June 5, 1967, issued against the Palestinians, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria by the then-prime minister Levy Eshkol. The declaration has never been lifted despite a peace agreement with Egypt and Jordan. The Israelis are still a war belligerent.
There was no occupation of Gaza for nearly forty years: From June 1967 to September 2005, Gaza was colonized, as the Israelis built 21 permanent colonies. When Ariel Sharon ended the colonization in 2005, Gaza turned into an occupied territory because it is part of what is still called the "occupied" Palestinian Territories. That so-called "occupation" is long overdue because it exceeds by 56 years (40 years of colonization + 16 years of occupation) what international law defines as temporary.
You can't declare war while you're already a war belligerent and have never lifted the declaration of war against the Palestinians since 1967.
Netanyahu's "declaration" is ill-conceived for another reason, which you can find in this documentation. and this documentation.
